· Advanced assessment skills and strong clinical judgment as a Nurse Practitioner · Strong interviewing skills and clinical judgment to determine if the psychiatric disorder has a physiological or emotional basis · Skilled in the assessment of risk for mental illness and extensive knowledge of wellness evaluations · Provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management for a full spectrum of disorders for children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric populations · Educate patients' families about mental illness, treatment, and prevention 
 · Specialty areas include substance use disorder, depression, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and psychosis · Individualized care with patience, warmth, understanding, and helpful explanations that facilitate understanding and cooperation
